Author Ishara Pillay, a teacher from Standerton Primary School, was honoured with the AfriCAN Honoree Authors’ Award on July 31.
The ceremony took place at the Genesis Worx, Fairmont, Johannesburg with 127 attendees from all walks of life assembling to celebrate their contributions to the world of literature.
According to Zaheera Rambalee, a friend, the award is a testament to Ishara’s talent and dedication to storytelling.
Pillay credited her success to the unwavering encouragement of family, friends, and mentors who played an integral role in shaping her literary journey.

Rambalee said readers are eagerly expecting what stories the author has in store for them in the coming year in the sequel to Alyssa’s Secret, hopefully, to be published early in the new year.
