Two SAPS members stationed at eMbalenhle Police Station have been promoted to the rank of captain with effect from December 1.

Captain Leonard Shringani and Captain Sifiso Nkosi, who previously served in different departments within SAPS, assumed their new ranks last month.

Shringani, who previously worked as the support services head at Greylingstad Police Station, was appointed as the human resources head at eMbalenhle SAPS.

Nkosi, who was an administrative clerk and the chief financial clerk at Secunda SAPS, is the new financial head at eMbalenhle Police Station.

About this promotion Shringani said, “In SAPS, being an HR officer or an administrative official does not mean you only focus on office work. We are police officers first, and crime prevention remains our responsibility,” said Shringani.

He added that his promotion comes with increased responsibilities.

“As a captain, it means more work in fighting crime and handling office duties. I will serve the community of eMbalenhle with pride, and community members should not hesitate to visit my office for enquiries about police recruitment or any services related to SAPS,” he said.

Nkosi echoed Shringani, saying his promotion also means increased responsibilities.

“Many community members are not aware that everyone in the police force – whether a financial clerk, HR officer, or administrative clerk – has an obligation to fight crime. We work like any other police official; we arrest suspects and attend to complaints,” said Nkosi.

He further explained that the new rank will require him to take on additional operational duties.

“With this promotion, the workload increases. We will now even work shifts and standbys as part of the fight against crime in eMbalenhle,” Nkosi added.
