Golf players compete in club championship in Secunda

Bongani Mtsweni defends his title as club champion.

Bongani Mtsweni won the A-division of the Graceland Golf Club Championship held at Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club in Secunda over the weekend. He scored 160 points while Lethabo Maahlo ended second with 163 points.

Maahlo is one of the top junior golf players in Mpumalanga, and his coach, Isaac Mahlangu, finished third with 165 points. Daniel Nyathela finished fourth with 165 points and N Baloyi fifth with 168 points.

In the B-division, Sandile Mathunda walked away as the winner with 175 points, while Justin Crowley finished second with 176 points and Jabu Masilela third with 177 points.

Kingsley Malaza was the winner in the C-division, while Lihle Mchunu finished second and Kobus Reinecke third. Tanya de Lange won the women’s division while Tokkie Reinecke finished second and H Bapela third.

The overall nett winners were Tokozani Mahlangu (first), Senzo Shabalala (second) and Frik Hennop (third). The nearest to the pin winners were Sandile Mathunda, Karabo Sebelebele, Tanya de Lange, Daniel Nyathela and Justin Crowley.
