Cast your lines in the Meyerville Fishing Club competition in Standerton

The third annual Meyerville Fishing Club competition will take place at the Standerton Waters-Grootdraai Dam on April 18.

The Meyerville Fishing Club is hosting a fishing competition at Standerton Waters–Grootdraai Dam on April 18. Tickets are available at R150 per angler. Gates open at 05:00. Anglers can cast from 06:00 to 15:00.

Weigh-in at the clubhouse from 15:00 to 16:00. There are loads of prizes to be won.

Men’s prizes for the heaviest carp are R1 000, the heaviest mud mouth R1 000, and the heaviest catfish R1 000. Women’s prizes are also R1 000 for the heaviest carp, heaviest muddie, and R1 000 for the heaviest catfish.

Rules:
• Show ticket when fish are weighed in.
• No bait boats or canoes.
• You may not walk into the dam; only cast from the side.
• The organisers take no responsibility for any loss or damage.
• If you buy your ticket early, you must show it at the gate before you can enter.
• There are lucky draws; keep your ticket, you must show it to collect the prize.
• Fishing or angling at your own risk.
• No yellowfish may be kept.
