(13:11) Secunda Police’s station commander, Colonel Vena Sigo, has just confirmed the suspect has been apprehended and arrested in Mozambique.

Suspect sought in connection with woman’s murder in Secunda

(12:10) The SAPS are investigating a murder following the discovery of the body of René Müller (44) at her home at Tygerberg Townhouses in Danie Theron Street, Secunda, yesterday.

Police found her body in an outside room at about 12:30.

Müller and the suspect, a man she knew, were reported missing on 12 April when they could not be reached telephonically and no one was at Müller’s home. They also did not clock in for work at their respective workplaces.

According to police, bloodstains were noticed inside the house, including on the interior walls and a doorframe. Müller’s cellphone and keys were found inside the home.

Police and forensic support services attended the townhouse yesterday. Security personnel assisted in forcing open a locked outside room on the premises.

Police discovered Müller’s body wrapped in a bag and positioned face down, with visible head injuries and blood present at the scene.

A knife, suspected to be the murder weapon, was recovered inside the room. The suspect had allegedly taken items from the house, which were pawned at a local pawnshop on 11 April.

Police are searching for the suspect, who fled in a white Toyota Hilux Club Cab bakkie with a canopy, bearing registration number LKS 690 MP. He was apparently heading towards Steelpoort.

Police did not provide a description of the suspect; however, Ridge Times has learned that the suspect is a white man in his 40s, bald, of average height and with a round build.

He wears black glasses and has a goatee-style beard.
