Department says schools are not closing
The Mpumalanga Department of Education dismissed claims about April school closures.
The Department issued a press release following the spreading of misleading information on social media suggesting that public schools will be closed from April 28 to 30.
According to the press release, these claims are false.
Schools will operate as normal on all three days, in line with the officially approved 2026 school calendar.
The Department confirmed that the dates in question fall within the second school term, which runs from April 8 to June 26.
As such, they are not recognised as public holidays or school holidays, and all public schools are expected to operate fully as normal.
