Workers are not paid on time

Do not sabotage people who are waking you up.

I am writing this letter to honour Mr Bomba Ntshangase and other fallen heroes of our struggle.

As a member of the ruling party, many of the actions taken by those in power are a disgrace.

For the love of my party, it will be wise to stop this before it causes too much harm to others.

I was among those who attended when our president promised more jobs to end unemployment in his statement at the Mbombela Stadium on 8 January.

He also repeated the same sentiments in his State of the Nation Address.

To my surprise, the Expanded Public Works Programme workers were being substituted by others instead of adding and sustaining those jobs as per demand since we all know the challenges we have in the Govan Mbeki municipal area.

Poverty will never end if people are given jobs for four months and at the end of their contracts they stay at home.

Some of these workers are not even paid their salaries on time.

There is also a multi-purpose centre that is under construction, but workers are not being paid on time.

This results in poor service delivery.

Contractors building RDP houses use workers from outside the area, even for digging foundation, which are non-compliance.

Where are these job opportunities for local voters?

Act before it is too late as we are going for the national elections.

Please concentrate on the needs of the people and do not sabotage those who are waking you up.

Sipho Mthombeni, eMzinoni.
