Dayyan Sindhi, an 8-year-old exponent of tae kwon do and a member of the Blackbelt Family Centre in Ermelo, was recently awarded his first degree black belt.
Dayyan was introduced to tae kwondo under the guidance of Sahbumnim Debbie (instructor) of the Blackbelt Family Centre when he was only three years old.
Since then his dedication and focused attitude has helped him to move up through the ranks. Although Debbie has since moved away from Ermelo, Dayyan persevered with bulldog-like determination to progress to his first black belt.
This achievement has encouraged him to take on more challenges, such as being more dedicated to life and his religious studies.
“With his quiet and calm attitude toward life we are sure he will be able
to conquer greater challenges and achieve bigger goals throughout his life. We are sure his achievement will serve as an encouragement and inspiration to other youngsters,” said his proud father, Mahomed.
