It is now fast becoming a habit for Standerton to win all their matches with a bonus point.
Those are the matches they do compete in when other teams do not withdraw before the match.
Another habit is that opposing teams can not field a side to compete against Standerton if the match is to be played here.
“The other teams also have the use of the union website where our points and standings are published.
“I think they feel they should rather not make the trip to Standerton to face a team which has not lost a match and win their matches with bonus points,” Mr Theunis Barnard, chairman, said.
Last weekend Standerton competed against the Secunda Stingrays in Secunda.
Standerton prepared to face the number three team on the log, expecting them to put up a fight at home.
This seemed not to be the case as the Stingrays failed dismally against Standerton’s bowling attack.
“They won the toss and elected to bat first.
“It was a good toss to lose,” said Juan Wilson, captain.
Not a single batsman of the opposing team could reach double figures in their innings.
Lourens Olivier scored nine runs, the most of all the batsmen in his team.
The Secunda Stingrays called it quits with only 68 runs on the board.
Iain Pattullo picked the batsmen apart taking 6/22 in 10 overs, his career best figures. Standerton had a shaky beginning to their innings with the first three wickets falling in the first five overs for a mere 17 runs on the board.
Jacques Erasmus and Iain Pattullo then scored a 46 run partnership to end the match in the 17th over.
By the time of going to press, the log was not updated with the latest results.
The results before last weekend’s matches are as follows:
Standerton first with 27 points, Piet Retief second with 21 points, Secunda Stingrays third with 20 points, Msukaligwa Warriors 2 of Ermelo fourth with 16 points, Kinross fifth with 11 points, Delmas sixth with six points, Talisman Bulldogs 2 seventh with one point and Standerton 2 eighth with -8 points.
This coming weekend Standerton will face the Talisman Bulldogs 2 in Standerton, the weekend after the Secunda Stingrays at home and the weekend after Piet Retief in Piet Retief.
The Piet Retief match will also be the last match of the year.
