Stars record first win

Club looks more energetic this year’s season.

eMBALENHLE – Mighty Stars FC recorded their first win of the year when they beat Mighty Spears FC 3 to 2 during the Kwa-Sechebo Promotion League at the Hostel Ground on Saturday, 25 January.

Stars suffered a loss of 5 to 3 against West United at the Welas Ground last weekend.

This is the second soccer season that Stars is taking part in the league under their coach, Mr Jabulani (Cafu) Nkambule.

The club looks more energetic this season and will face Sasol Thistle Grove FC at the Kinross Sasol Club at 1pm on 1 February.

The league is sponsored by Ms Maud Mphuthi (31), a local businesswoman, worth R25 000.

12 clubs are taking part and the league will end in April.

Mr London Mohale, deputy chairman of the Local Football Association, said the league is aimed at promoting soccer development.

“We are not going to succeed unless we roll up our sleeves and sort out the development of soccer.

“It is not going to happen overnight.

“We have zero development and that is why the Bafana Bafana squad is struggling to produce good results.

“Fancy ideas need to be turned into action.”
