Locals win K3 Dusi Canoe Marathon
Local finish 203 overall in a time of 11 hours 23 minutes.
SECUNDA – Lean Pretorius, Marius Mellet and Kevin Kubheka of the Sasol Canoe Club recently won the K3 category of the Dusi Canoe Marathon and finished 203 overall in a time of 11 hours 23 minutes.
This is quite a technical challenge because of the size and length of the boat.
About 784 boats competed in this year’s Dusi Canoe Marathon which stretched over a distance of 120km in three days.
The three types of boats used to compete were K1, K2 and K3 according to the number of paddlers per boat.
Canoeists began in Pietermaritzburg and crossed the finishing line at the Blue Lagoon in Durban.
