Sasol Canoe Club prepares for their annual Dam to Dam race.
The Sasol Dam to Dam race will be held on 19 July.
TRICHARDT – Members of the Sasol Canoe Club paddled down the Trichardt Spruit two weekends ago in preparation of the yearly Sasol Dam to Dam Canoe Race on 19 July at 9 am.
Tripping the river before the race is essential to ensure that the river is clear of dangerous obstacles.
This was done after members have been clearing the river from tree blocks and other debris in the past few weeks.
The Sasol Canoe Club members will be marshals along the river to ensure that paddlers from Gauteng and the Lowveld can also compete in the race.
In order for paddlers to compete in major races such as the Fish River Canoe Marathon and the Dusi, they need to do six smaller races like this one to qualify.
The Sasol Dam to Dam Canoe race will kick off at the Trichardt Dam Highveld Yacht Club.
