The Standerton RC Car Club will be hosting a Pre-Nationals Day on 14 June.
The Standerton RC Car Club will be hosting a Pre-Nationals Day on 14 June.
The track will be open from 10am to 3pm to allow local members and competitors from ‘out of town’ some valuable practice time.
Depending on the number of entries, timed races will be organised throughout the day to give competitors the opportunity to fine-tune their cars according to race conditions.
The South African Radio Drivers Association (SARDA) Nationals for Electric Off Road Cars are being held at the club the following weekend and the event is expected to attract more than 80 entries.
Top competitors from Gauteng, Pretoria, Polokwane and Rustenburg have already entered, which will make this the biggest event the club has hosted since it was established two years ago.
The Nationals are run over a three day period, with Friday, 19 June being an Open Practice Day, 20 June is Qualifying Day and 21 June is Finals Day.
Drivers will take part in a minimum of four timed qualifying races per class on Saturday of which the best lap times per driver determine their starting grid position for Sunday’s Finals.
Drivers will line up in their grid positions on Sunday and the racing will be head to head over six minute races, which will eventually determine the winners per class.
Altogether, there are seven classes being competed for, which include 2wd and 4wd Short Course Trucks, 2wd and 4wd Buggies Modified/Stock and 2wd Stadium Trucks, all of which are 1:10 scale.
Spectators are invited to come and enjoy some top quality radio control racing and show support for our local drivers.
The club has also arranged a jumping castle, children’s activities and a clown to keep the little ones entertained.
Cansa will be selling delicious pancakes on Saturday and there will also be boerewors rolls and refreshments on sale.
The racing starts at 9am till 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday, with prize-giving taking place at 3.30pm on Sunday.
