Cricket league nears its end

The round robin stage of the Standerton Business League comes to an end.

Semi-final spots for the Standerton Cricket Business league have been finalised after a month of closely contested round robin fixtures.

Teams were welcomed on the weekend not by the usual bird life on the field and the odd meerkat, but by a burst pipe that made the gravel road towards the pitch quite difficult to navigate.

Secunda beat the Old Boys in the first match of the weekend on 1 August.

The Young Guns beat the Old Boys in the first match on 2 August with New Denmark claiming victory against the Dekalb Rugby club in the second match.

The Young Guns was the surprise unit of the weekend by making easy work of the much favoured Northmec team in the final round robin match.
