Winnie lays down the law on netball court

“I was both a coach and a player in the team,”

Ms Winnie Sibeko’s love for netball has seen her coaching more than three teams in different towns and named head coach of the Gert Sibande Tvet College Standerton Campus Netball Team.

Under her leadership, the team claimed victory in the Gert Sibande District and at provincial level last year.

They also obtained fifth position at a national competition.

The Gert Sibande Tvet College Ermelo Campus obtained second position in the Gert Sibande District in 2015 when Ms Sibeko was the coach.

Pimville United Girls was the first team that Ms Sibeko coached.

“I was both a coach and a player in the team,” she said.

She relocated to Vosloorus in 1997 and established a team named Vosloorus United Girls in 1999.

This self-taught coach said she worked hard for her team to be the best in the area.

“I made sure that I learn more about netball and the rules by watching other umpires,” she also said.

She also got herself a book with all the do’s and don’ts of netball.
