Leandra residents are in dire need of sports facilities

The organisation believes if the community has sports facilities, they will be able to have consistent fixtures and tournaments.

The Leandra Sports Council is a non-profit organisation whose aim is to expose young people’s talent by advocating for their needs.

The organisation was established in April last year after they realised that the youth of Leandra do not have sports facilities.

The chairman, Mr Abednego Lukhele, said the main vision is for Leandra to have a multipurpose sports centre.

“We do not have the facilities to display the talents of the youth and in order for them to be scouted by top teams and organisations so they stay off the street and away from substance abuse.”

The organisation believes if the community has the facilities, they will be able to have consistent fixtures and tournaments.

Though the organisation is fully registered, they still do not have an office and equipment.

They managed to host a big event for different sporting codes last year.

Mr Lukhele pleaded with companies and individuals to assist them with refreshments, balls and medals for a tournament.
