Graceland Country Club hosted the Club Captain’s golf day on Wednesday, 9 August.
This year, Graceland Country Club’s captain, Mr Marthinus Venter, along with Heinrich Britz and Willem van Rooyen decided to donate all proceeds of the golf day to the Highveld Ridge SPCA.
With the help of Secunda Toyota, various other sponsors and every player who attended the day, the Highveld Ridge SPCA received nearly R15 000.
Mr Harry Mostert from Secunda Toyota, who is also a volunteer at the Highveld Ridge SPCA, was one of the organisers of the day.
“We could not have done this without the help of the community, those who sponsored prizes, who gave donations and every player who came out today to support the SPCA.”
Graceland not only hosted the day, but supported the Highveld Ridge SPCA by sponsoring the meal after the prize giving, and donating the money paid by players directly to the SPCA, as well as offering a Country Club membership for the auction that raised nearly R3 000.
Ms Jenneth Geel, senior inspector at the Highveld Ridge SPCA, could not contain her joy and thanked Graceland and Secunda Toyota for their continued and generous support.
“I know that a day like today does not just happen and it takes the dedication of people with a heart for the SPCA to organise a fundraising event as successful as this one.
“I want to thank every local business that was involved to make this day a success and every player who chose to spend their public holiday playing for a good cause.”
The day was a success due to the team work of Messrs Harry Mostert (Secunda Toyta), Marthinus Venter, Heinrich Brits and Willem van Rooyen (Graceland) and Francois Trollip (Secunda Toyota).Mr Marthinus Venter (Graceland Country Club’s captain), Ms Anli Pronsloo (best player of the day) and Mr Stefan van Niekerk (Secunda Toyota).
