Peacelovers thrash Juventus 3 – 1 at Basement Ground in Sakhile
Peacelover make great start to 2017/2018 season
Peacelovers FC won the first cup of the Lekwa Football Association’s season by beating Juventus FC 3 -1 at the Basement Ground in Sakhile on 27 August.
After weeks of postponement, the match finally took place and nothing like a final to get soccer players and fans excited.
A rendition of the national anthem was sung by both teams.
Both teams spoke boldly of winning even before it started, but Peacelovers FC had the upper hand immediately after kick-off.
With their fans chanting their players’ names at every attempt at goal the pressure showed when Juventus conceded a penalty in the eighth minute and Peacelovers slotted the penalty.
Juventus showed heart and kept playing and pushed forward, but just did not capitalise on their chances.
The first half ended 1 – 0, advantage Peacelovers.
In the second half, things just got worse for Juventus when they conceded another two goals. Juventus got a consolation goal late in the match.
In another match, Blue Cranes beat Inner City 2 – 0 in the third and fourth play-offs.
