Junior boxers gathered at eMba Sasol Club for tournament
The Sasol Recreation Centre aims to promote wellness and increase the number of participants in sport.
Sasol eMbalenhle Community Recreation Centre hosted a junior boxing tournament recently.
Ermelo, Elukwatini, Breyten, Middleburg and Ogies Boxing Clubs participated in the tournament.
The centre’s aim is to promote wellness and to increase the number of participants in sport and recreation in the communities around the Sasol operations.
Sasol Sport and Recreation pursues initiatives that enhance the Sasol brand and inspires exceptional performance and reinforces Sasol’s image in the area of sports development in the community they serve.
This tournament formed part of Sasol’s sport and recreation strategic focus areas with the main objective to develop sport among community members.
It also capacitates the delegated governance structures with administration and management skills needed to organise sport and events of such magnitude.
Ms Martie van Vuuren from Mpumalanga Amateur Boxing Federation presented the winner and prize announcements.
There were 16 fights throughout the tournament and winners per category received trophies while runners-up got silver medals.
“Sasol eMbalenhle Community Recreation Club will continually support the community of eMbalenhle and surrounding towns in getting more exposure to amateur boxing opportunities and assist local boxers to achieve their goals to become world class champions,” said Mr Ockert Stoop, club manager of Sasol Secunda Recreation Club.
