Jim van Tonder School will host their annual golf day at the local club on Saturday, 14 October.

Jim van Tonder School caters for learners with special educational needs.

The learners at this school are equipped more adequately for their future in a variety of ways.

Apart from the normal academic curriculum, learners are trained in a variety of skills.

Training includes acquiring skills in welding, woodwork, panelbeating, mechanical work, plumbing, hairdressing, hospitality studies, catering and shop and office.

Many learners are accommodated in the school hostel, whereas others travel daily from Secunda, Evander and Kriel.

Funds generated by the golf day are used to enable the school to provide the means and facilities for learners to become self supportive and make a positive contribution to the community and society as a whole.

The focus this year is on improving the school’s sports facilities.

The school is inviting local businesses to contribute towards this event by way of sponsoring a hole or participating in the event.

Entry costs R190 per player which includes breakfast, a halfway house and refreshments during the prizegiving.

Prizes to the value of R60 000 can be won for a hole-in-one on the 11th hole.
