Local teams register losses in Week 25 of the SAB Soccer League

Week 25 of the SAB Soccer League kicked off at the weekend with teams from Gert Sibande District vying for top four finishes in the log standings.

The Msukaligwa derby ended in a one-all draw with Breyten unable to take advantage of their home ground in the KwaZanele Stadium.

Ermelo United FC were thrashed by Manzana FC side, who had their goal scoring boots on as they put four goals past the local goalkeeper.

A total of seven goals were scored in the match as Manzana walked away 4-3 victors.

City Gunners FC were at the receiving end of a rampant Breyten Home Sweepers FC side, who scored four goals at the AJ Swanepoel Stadium.

The match ended 4-0 with the Gunners unable to fight back.

VOC United FC rounded off the local teams as they had a forgettable match, losing 1-0 to Shooters FC.

In other matches, PR BArcelona won 2-0 against Aramburg FC. Aramburg has yet to register a point in the past two months.

Aveng Young Stars FC clashed with Stone Breakers FC at the Tjakastad Open Ground. The Stars won the match 3-2.

Flying Stars FC lost 1-0 to Comet Riders FC at the Lotzaba Open Ground while XI Experience FC gunned down Losta Stars FC, winning the match 3-0 at the Vaalkoop Stadium.

Flymingo United holds the top spot with 51 points and Somholo follows closely with 48.

They are, however, looking over their shoulder as Breyten Home Sweepers are also on 48 points. The two teams are separated by goal difference.

VOC are the top local team in 5th place and Mafia are in 11th.

Ermelo United are on 12th position and City Gunners on 15th.

Aramburg languishes at the bottom of the table with just 10 points to their name.

More matches are scheduled to take place this coming weekend as the league enters its last stretch.
