Dance school in Evander hosts competition
The contest yielded several overall winners and special awards recipients.
EVANDER – Julie-Ann’s School of Dance hosted their Dance Motion Competition last month.
The contest yielded several overall winners and special awards recipients.The overall freestyle winners are Merike Meyer as junior and Lana Te Water as senior.
Merike also won the awards for the overall junior winner in modern dance, and the most dramatic dancer.
Other awards for senior dancers that Lana raked in, are for overall acrobatics, overall impression, and best character dancer.
Kaylee Jordaan and Jessica McCamlie are respectively the junior and senior overall winners in disco.
Jessica also received the awards for the most creative dancer and the best use of props.
Mia Grobler is the overall the best acrobatic dancer among the juniors. She was also rewarded for the best costume.
The overall junior and senior winners in the hip-hop category are Kaylene Balmakund and Tshepang Madingoane respectively. Kaylene was also complimented for the best attitude, while Tshepang also received the awards for the most rhythmic dancer and for her unique style.
The overall winner in modern dance among the seniors is Janica Grobler. She was also lauded as the dancer with the most bendy back.
The most promising dancer at the competition was Jessica Erwee.
Jane Janse van Rensburg has the best technique and Anjanay Rothquel the best pointed toes.
Hailey van der Berg was awarded for the best personality, best make-up and best audience engagement.
Isabel Schenk and Lerika Bronkhorst shared the title of Most Stylish Dancer. Lerika also received a special award for a well rounded off dance.
The most flexible dancer was Una Ntshani.
Dyaz Ward had the best themed dance, Ntsako Baloyi was the cutest dancer, Kiarah Fourie ws the most graceful and Sihle Baloyi had the best smile for the year.
