NIMP to hold 15km run against violence

The day’s event will see registration for the 15km run begin at 5am on Saturday with the run taking off at 6am sharp.

EVANDER – There will be a 15km run this weekend, Saturday, 12 December, at the Evander Stadium in Bram Fischer Drive to raise awareness against gender-based violence.

Founders of the non-profitable organisation, NIMP (Not In My Presence), have been working closely with victims of gender-based violence and want to use this day to create awareness and show their support to victims.

The day’s event will see registration for the 15km run begin at 5am on Saturday with the run taking off at 6am sharp.

The finishing line will be at the Shoprite parking area where all runners, as well as those who did not take part in the run, will walk back to the Evander Stadium as part of a march against gender-based violence.

Event organisers have requested the public to make placards and posters with words showing their support against gender-based violence.

The event promises plenty of entertainment at the stadium for both young and old and a day for the whole family to enjoy.

Food stalls will be available on the day.

There will also be jumping castles to keep the little ones busy.

There will be special guest appearances with performance by local DJ’s and upcoming artists.

Because of Covid-19 restrictions and social distancing and as this is a family event, no alcohol will be allowed at the venue.

“Let us fight racism together so that we can conquer gender-based violence as a nation,” said Mr Brian Mbaba, founder of NIMP.

If you would like to get involved or want to book stall space contact Ms Fortunate Sithole at 072 836 8451.
