A collaboration between hosts Bronkhorstspruit Tennis Club, Tennis LabSA, Nomhle Khabo Family Centre and Abram Makgatholela Tennis Academy as implementing agencies for Gauteng North Tennis

Development sought to kickstart a long-term vision of rolling out beneficiaries across the seven regions of Tshwane.

“One of the core strategic objectives is to set up new tennis beneficiaries to grow the tennis ecosystem of Tshwane and ultimately South Africa by setting up sustainable programmes and retaining players in this lifetime sport,” said Siyabulela Nkachela, who is the founding director of both GNTD and Tennis LabSA.

Gugu Nkosi, a committee member of Bronkhorstspruit Tennis Club thanked all in attendance and pointed out how much it meant for local tennis.

The players were exposed to a plethora of drills during the six-hour programme which culminated in a Tennis South Africa Rainbow Kidz Matchplay Mania that afforded kids to strut their stuff against each other.

It was all smiles when all participants received cChampion certificates and t-shirts for their efforts on the day.

“‘As Mamelodians attending the event, it was an eye-opener for our players to gauge their level against their peers,’ is what #MamelodiPlaysTennis president Zoe Masuku stated after the event,” said Nkosi.

The next event will be a two-day junior tournament and this will put Bronkhorstspruit on the tennis radar and entrench its position as the giant tennis hive of Tshwane’s Region 7.
