Secunda karateka excel at championship

Local sensei leads province to third place.

Karateka of the Universal Shotokan Karate Union Club in Secunda took part in the South African Open Karate Championships held in Durban on July 15 and excelled.

Their coach, sensei Breshnev Dhlamini, attended the championship as a provincial development coach and led the province to finish in third place overall.

The karateka who excelled are Jordan Malaza (first in kumite 8-9 years old), Yamkhela Khakhusi (first in kumite 12-13 years old), Londiwe Sindane (first in kumite 12-13 years), Owethu Sindane (first in kumite for cadet boys), Lutendo Netshivhazwaulu (second in kumite 10-11 years old), Mpilo Radebe (second in kumite for cadet boys), Luminathi Khakhusi (third in kumite for 8-9 years old), Mitchel Malaza (third in kumite and kata for cadet girls) and Raven Renee (took part in the women’s kata disability division for veterans).
