Runners enjoy parkrun in Secunda

Anybody is welcome to volunteer at Secunda Parkrun event on Saturdays.

Parkrunners did their best in the Secunda Parkrun again on Saturday, January 21 where 388 athletes competed and walked or ran their best times.

Many first timers took part in the parkrun and according to the organisers the many athletes who took part is a record attendance since the lockdown.

Lou-Ann Smit was the first woman to cross the finish line with Juné van Wyk finishing second and Minette van den Berg third.

Quintin van Meyeren was the first man to cross the finish line with Aldrin Willemse finishing second and Alfred Moloi third.

Leopold Middelberg was the oldest man parkrunner at 82 with his 77th parkrun under the belt and Johan Strydom was the second oldest parkrunner at 79 with his third parkrun being completed.

The oldest parkrunner overall was Elsa Nursey at 86 and she completed her 44th parkrun.

Johanna van Tonder was the second oldest women’s parkrunner at 77 and she completed her 157th parkrun.

Louise le Roux was the parkrunner with the most parkruns, she completed 265 parkruns already.

The organisers thanked all the volunteers for their hard work and said it is volunteers who make the parkruns happen.

They encouraged people to volunteer at the Secunda Parkrun held every Saturday at 08:00.
