Cullinan Police rescue six-year-old

The informant who reported the case to the police claimed that the mother locked herself and the child inside the house.

The police in Cullinan rescued a six-year-old child from a violent mother whom they suspected is mentally disturbed.

Sgt Charmaine Mohlala, Const Dumisani Mahlangu and Const Sibusiso Hadebe swiftly reacted to a complaint that a minor might be locked up in a house in Refilwe on Thursday, November 11.

“As the police prioritise the safety of children, they swiftly responded to the scene. There they found an alleged disturbed mother.

“The informant who reported the case to the police claimed that the mother locked herself and the child inside the house.

“She apparently also denied anyone access to the house,” Const Connie Moganedi, spokesperson for the Cullinan Police, said.

The police officers, however, exercised their skills to get entry to the house and removed the child.

According to Const Moganedi, the child was overwhelmed by the police assistance.

The child was immediately taken to the local social workers after which the youngster was placed in a place of safety.

The mother was taken to a hospital for medical examination.
