Four die and two injured in head-on collision between Delmas and Bronkhorstspruit

Four people were killed in a head-on collision that occurred at the Waaikraal informal settlement on the R42 between Delmas and Bronkhorstspruit.
The head-on collision happened on Friday, November 26 at around 05:30.
Two other people were seriously injured.
The deceased, two men and two women, include both drivers and two passengers.
Medical personnel certified the four people dead on the accident scene.
Two more seriously injured occupants were transported to the Samuel Bernice Hospital in Delmas for medical attention.
The Mpumalanga MEC for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL), Mr Vusi Shongwe, has once more urged motorists to use the road cautiously and obey the rules.
“We are deeply saddened by the unending loss of lives on our roads. That is why we are again reminding motorists that failure to obey the rules of the road is deadly.
“We should all play our part by using the road with greater care at all times to save lives,” Mr Shongwe said.
He also sent his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
All relevant role players were on the scene.
Residents of Waaikraal and other regular commuters on the R42 road, said on social media that they use that road daily and find it alarming that there are no road markings, such as lines on that part of the road.
