Khutso Motloding from Zithobeni is a real math wizzard

He scooped position 2, and indeed put both the school and Gauteng North District on the map with this grand achievement.

Khutso Mothloding, a Grade 7 learner at Vezulwazi Primary School in Zithobeni and a resident of Leeufontein near Bronkhorstspruit, shone in the Gauteng Department of Education Provincial Mathematics Olympiad 2021 Awards.

He scooped position 2, and indeed put both the school and Gauteng North District on the map with this grand achievement.

This glittering prize-giving ceremony was held on Saturday, November 20 at Laerskool Anton van Wouw in Brooklyn, Pretoria.

Khutso received a provincial winner’s certificate, a gold medal, a trophy and a cell phone to the elation of his math teacher, Ms ZR Zunguza, and uncle, who had accompanied him.

Khutso who together with hundreds of other Grade 7 entrants from different schools, wrote the competition online a couple of weeks ago and obtained 89%, just one mark shy of the winner from Johannesburg West District who got 90%.

He has been accepted at Dan Kutumela High School in Zithobeni for Grade 8 next year and Vezulwazi will be proud to track his progress until Grade 12.
