Letters to God
It is comforting to know God hears my prayers and does read my letters.
When I want to have a heart-to-heart talk with God, I often write Him a letter.
I suppose it is because I’m a better writer than a talker.
I was thus intrigued when I saw the movie “Letters to God”.
This drama is based on the true story of a young boy, Tyler (9), whose life is put on hold when he is diagnosed with cancer.
Through his letters to God (which he posts) about the confusion and faith that come with his situation, he soon becomes a source of hope and inspiration for
those in his neighbourhood.
God becomes Tyler’s father, mentor, counsellor, friend and even his pen-pal.
It is the same with me.
In my letters I tell Him about my day, my frustrations and fears, of my heart overflowing with love for my children and grandchild and of how the beautiful sunset had strangely made me sad.
I even sometimes share a joke with Him – did He not invent laughter?
In my letters to Him, I can also voice my concerns about gang rapes and the general decline in moral values and standards in all societies.
To me it is comforting to know God hears my prayers and does read my letters.
Take my advice and write to God the next time you feel abandoned, unloved, lonely and abused, or to tell Him how great and awesome He is.
I can guarantee you that He always loves to hear from us.
