Editor’s Desk
Are you a rebel who drives without a licence, who disobey the rules, talk on the cell phone? Not only does your type of personality reflect your driving, but so does your mood as well.

Far too many innocent people are dying in our area daily due to car accidents.
Hardly a week goes by that we do not cover one or two fatal accidents.
Many of these are caused by aggressive and fast driving, motorists talking on their cell phones or being under the influence of alcohol, impatience, blatant arrogance, tailgating and irresponsible driving in general.
Driving through stop signs and red robots has become the norm.
These are all very dangerous behaviours that can cause a lot of unnecessary heartache, injuries and loss of life.
Every motorist should be in possession of a valid driver’s license and should know the rules of the road.
We however do not go for psychological evaluation before we are issued with a driver’s license, same as when you apply for a license for a weapon.
That in my opinion, is the problem, because we all have different personalities and let’s face it, a vehicle can be a killing machine.
Let me explain: Just as the type of car reflects your kind of personality, so does your driving style.
Are you a control freak? Are you obsessed with being in control all the time? Then you will most probably, for example, drive slower when another motorist keeps on flashing his lights for you to drive faster.
Are you an egoist and achiever? Then you might be the kind of motorist who will begin a race with another motorist to show your car can drive faster.
Are you an aggressive kind of person? Aggressive people were most probably taught that violence can solve anything. You have the potential to be involved in a road rage incident.
Are you a rebel who drives without a licence, who disobey the rules, talk on the cell phone? Not only does your type of personality reflect your driving, but so does your mood as well.
If you are, for instance very angry, you might drive aggressively.
Likewise, if you are extremely happy, the possibility that you might be driving over the speed limit, is greater.
Whatever the reason for the high rate of accidents, the laws and rules of driving are there for a reason and that is to safeguard the safety of all on our roads.
The first responsibility lies with you when you get behind the wheel.
Let’s have an accident free week.
