Locals run for change

Highveld Park High School hosted a relay race to promote awareness of various burdens in the local community.

Vincen Dlamini came second in the open walking race and decided to get into the spirit of things by walking big parts of his race on his hands.

SECUNDA – Highveld Park High School hosted the Run for Change Relay Race on 21 May to help create awareness of various burdens carried by members of the local community.

The school hosted the event as part of its fundraising calendar for the year and numerous teams participated.

Apart from the awareness campaign, this race also provided cross-country athletes with an opportunity to take part in an informal and friendly setting to prepare them for the rest of the cross-country season.

Pupils and staff dressed up and welcomed the participants and motivated the runners along the course.

The South African National Blood Service was on hand and many athletes and spectators donated blood after they had completed their races.

There was a team relay, an individual race and an open walking race.

The team from Curves won the masters relay and Aleph Learning Academy came third in the senior team relay.
