This can be a fun project for the whole family or even a great holiday activity to keep the kids busy.
It is also a great way to recycle.
The instructions are to make a snowman ornament that can be used for tree decorations.
Alternatively you can fill the jars with treats and use it for table decorations or gifts.
Instead of painting the jar with acrylic paint, use black chalkboard paint.
Fill the jar with chalk and everyone can decorate their own jar.
You can also paint different patterns on the jar and use different colour ribbons.
Snowman ornament.
Supplies needed:
Acrylic paint in white, black and orange
Paint brush
Purity jars, plastic jars or any other jars that will not be to heavy to hang from the tree.
Ribbon, any colour of your choice.
Method:
Paint your jar with your white acrylic paint.
It will take about going four coats to cover it and you have to let it dry in between, so be a little patient.
Paint the lid of the jar with your black acrylic paint.
This will not take quite as many coats of paint, maybe just two to cover it completely.
Once your jar and lid are totally dry, paint your face on your jar.
You can use the back of your and the black paint to create the eyes and mouth of my little snowman.
Test it out on paper first.
Use the orange for the nose or any other colour to match the ribbon.
Take the lid, hammer and nail.
Use the hammer to put a nail through the top centre of the lid.
Push the ribbon through the lid from the outside of the lid to the inside.
Make a big enough knot so that the ribbon will not slip through.
Screw the lid back on the jar and it is ready for use.
