Baby Angel is recovering after she sustained second-degree burn wounds from boiling water

LEANDRA – Baby Angel Nzimande is recovering and receiving treatment at a local pharmacy clinic.

This came after people got on board to help and seek help for Angel who sustained second-degree burn wounds after she burned with boiling water on 18 May.

They created a Facebook page to seek help for her and many locals responded and donated money, groceries, clothes and toys.

The money raised paid for her medical costs.

She goes to the clinic once a week so the dressing can be changed.

Baby Angel was burned with water after she apparently ran into the house and said she was thirsty and grabbed a jar filled with boiling water.

She sustained severe burn wounds from her chest to her stomach.

According to Ms Paulina Nzimande, her mother, she was rushed to the Leandra Clinic where they only dressed the wounds and gave her Panado.

She was not referred to a hospital and was sent home.

She was taken to Bethal Hospital where they said she had an infection.

She was treated and discharged.

People worked tirelessly to find help for her and they eventually managed to get her treated.

“We are so grateful to everybody who was involved.

“I am still overwhelmed by the support that we received.

“This shows there are still good people who are willing to go all out to help the underprivileged.

“May God bless everybody who donated,” said one of the Help Raise Funds for Little Angel Zimande Facebook campaign organisers.

Ms Nzimande said she is happy that her child is recovering and receiving good treatment.

She said though she has not yet fully recovered, she can now play a bit and laugh again.

“I am grateful to God for everybody who helped me. If it had not been for their help, my child would have been dead by now.

“We have received many donations and people have visited us to check on her progress.

“I thank all my colleagues, friends, family members and residents from Secunda and Leandra.”
