Breyten Police arrested two suspects on 11 November in connection with stolen batteries.

According to Sgt Thabo Mashegoane, spokesman for Breyten Police, they received a tip-off about the suspects stealing the batteries from a nearby farm.

The police and members of ACSU went to the farm where the batteries were stolen.

They found 50 underground scoop batteries worth about R17 500.

Sgt Mashegoane said: “The batteries were hidden in the house belonging to one of the suspects who was arrested and pointed out who his accomplice was.”

Both men were arrested and appeared in Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on 12 November for possession of suspected stolen property.
