Shooters from Secunda excel at national championship
A dozen shooters of the Teks Shooting Club took part in this championship.
SECUNDA – Local shooters of the Teks Shooting Club showed their skills at the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Handgun National Championship held from 20 to 21 March in Cape Town.
A dozen shooters of the Teks Shooting Club took part in this championship and Ruan van Heerden finished fifth overall in the production division (1st in B class) while Arno Theron finished sixth overall in this division (2nd in B class).
Van Heerden and Theron are in Mpumalanga Production’s A team.
A total of 234 shooters of all nine provinces in the country attended this championship.
Abrie Preller and Rohan Wiese, also in Mpumalanga Production’s A team, finished 17th and 20th overall in the production division.
Vincent Mortlock, Gerhard Lombard and Hennie Koch of Mpumalanga Production’s B team finished 12th, 16th and 48th overall in the production division.
Jean Engelbrecht finished sixth overall in the production optic division and Hendrik Engelbrecht, both part of the Mpumalanga Production’s optics A team, finished eighth overall, second among the seniors and third in the B-class while Paul Loock finished 15th overall in the production optic division and Derich Eicker finished 18th overall in that same division.
Eastern Gauteng won in the production division with Mpumalanga’s A team finishing second, North Gauteng third and Mpumalanga B team seventh.
In the production optics division, the Boland team won while the Eastern province finished second and Mpumalanga third.
