Artist and music producer from Evander is a nominee in the 011 City Awards
Better known in the music industry and by his peers as McSmish, this young singer and songwriter was nominated for his hip hop gospel music.
EVANDER –Hamish Minnie (23), a local music producer and artist, has been nominated for a City Award in the category of Best Newcomer of the Year.
Better known in the music industry and by his peers as McSmish, this young singer and songwriter was nominated for his hip hop gospel music.
The City Awards is a large chain of award shows, celebrating the achievements of individuals in the entertainment industry. This year the shows will be held in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, East London, Bloemfontein, Polokwane and Rustenburg.
McSmish is the only nominee from Mpumalanga and will be part of the Johannesburg 011 show.
This young man’s song Bow Down was written about the time in lockdown.
He was already interested in recording music and writing his own songs at the age of 17.
He made it his mission to own a studio and began saving up to buy the equipment needed to be a music producer. His brand is His Sound Records.
He works as a spray painter by day and is also studying Health and Safety.

McSmish is an outspoken Christian and is not afraid to say God is first in his life. He is the worship leader in the church of his father. Besides singing, he also plays the keyboard.
“I use my music to reach the young and to share the Word with them,” he said.
As a producer, he wants to offer a platform for artists to record their music locally.
The CityAwards winners are determined by judges as well as votes from the public.
