Prosecutor at Standerton Magistrate’s Court re-arrested
Police management in Mpumalanga welcomed the developments, hoping that his arrest will serve as a lesson to others who might decide to emulate his conduct.
The case of Mr Pule Aaron Christopher Mohanwe (36), former control prosecutor at the Standerton Magistrate’s Court, was transferred to the Regional Court in Standerton, sitting on Monday, 12 April.
Mr Pule appeared in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 8 April following his re-arrest in connection with contempt of court.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police issued a statement on 7 April, detailing the events.
According to the statement, he failed to appear in court to answer on corrupt allegations leveled against him.
His conduct of disregarding the court led the Magistrate to issue a warrant for his arrest in February.

“People should know that the courts should be respected by all,” the statement read.
A formal bail application was heard on Tuesday, 4 August last year after a police intelligence-driven operation.
His first court appearance was on 30 July, two days after being charged with soliciting bribes from suspects in exchange for cases to be withdrawn or struck from the court roll.
Brig Leonard Hlathi, provincial spokesman of police, issued a statement, saying the suspect was apprehended after he allegedly received an undisclosed amount of cash from a suspect, in exchange for withdrawal of a case.
The money was found on his person.
According to a trustworthy source, Standerton’s detectives, crime prevention and K9-units, as well as surveillance and covert units from Middelburg were involved in the arrest. Readers will be updated once information becomes available.
