SECUNDA – Be sure not to miss out, the one and only, Radio Kalahari Orkes who will be performing at Eish!! this Friday, 23 April, to celebrate the signing of the Reinheitsgebot, 505 years ago.
Entrance to the show is free and is sponsored by TWK Agri Insurance.
The performance can be viewed from Eish!! or Homebrew Lab’s deck overlooking the eish!! stage.
Local talent, Marichelle, will kick off the day from 3pm and sing in various intervals throughout the evening.
Radio Kalahari Orkes (RKO) will perform from 6pm and again from 8pm.
The evening will see a celebration of 505 year since the signing of the Reinheitsgebot (beer purity law); a regulation that mandates which ingredients are allowed for the brewing of beer.
There are currently two different brewing companies situated at Lake Umuzi Waterfront.
“Lake Umuzi Brewing Company, uses an English style to brew most of their hand-crafted beers, with the exception of the Weiss beer that is made according to the original German style of brewing,” said Ms Rolin Booysen, marketing manager for Lake Umuzi.
“Lake Umuzi Brewing Company has been the supplier of the Eish!! brew for the past 4 years, and will soon move into their own premises adjacent to the Dros.
The latest addition to Lake Umuzi Waterfront is the Homebrew Lab which is a part gin-distillery and part beer-brewery.
“Half of the hand-crafted beers are made according to the Belgian style of brewing and the other 50 percent is brewed in agreement with the American style of brewing,” said Ms Booysen.
As part of celebrating this day, Bosveld Lapa Restaurant will have a cocktail and sushi special.
“Come and enjoy a delectable beer battered hake at Ocean Basket, or an ice cold Windhoek Draught brewed in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot.”
Homebrew Lab will sell all their hand-crafted beers, for one day only, at a cost R29 a draught on tap.
“Don’t miss this wonderful celebration. See you there!”
