Winter chill fails to deter Standerton parkrunners

Fifty-four participants turned out for the 360th parkrun at River Park on July 11.

Mist and an icy-cold winter morning did not deter 54 participants from taking part in the 360th parkrun on July 11.

Bongane Mpokane was the first man to finish, crossing the line in 19:24. Mxolisi Dludla finished second in 25:46, while Parth Jayram finished with a time of 27:18.

Cecilia Pretorius was the first woman to finish. She achieved a personal best time of 32:00.

Patricia Mudau finished second in 32:11, followed by Nyeleti Precious Baloyi in third place with a time of 36:27.

Danie Laufs reached the milestone of 25 volunteer credits at this parkrun event.

Standerton parkrun takes place every Saturday at 08:00 at River Park, on the corner of Handel and Buiten streets.

The weekly 5km event is free to enter. Participants simply need to register once and bring their personal barcode to each event.

The organisers welcome people of all ages and fitness levels, as well as four-legged companions, to walk, jog or run the scenic 5km route.
