Women pinned underneath car in gruesome accident
Emergency services challenged with lifting vehicle.
A woman believed to be in her thirties sustained serious injuries when she was knocked down by a vehicle and dragged for several metres on Christiaan de Wet road near Rinyani Avenue yesterday afternoon (1 November).
Shortly before 3pm paramedics from ER24 found the woman still trapped under the vehicle beneath the engine compartment. They were able to speak to the injured woman and had to act quickly to devise a plan to lift the vehicle.
ER24 Rescue paramedics used several rescue equipment to stabilise and lift the car. Once lifted, they managed to pull the woman from underneath the vehicle. She was in a serious condition and suffered multiple injuries. She was stabilised on scene and rushed to Helen Joseph Hospital for further care.
