Man dies after being crushed by an overturned truck

A truck overturning caused the death of a man on Tuesday 2 July.
According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson, a dump truck that three men were travelling in overturned at a dump site just off Dobsonville Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Paramedics found that the truck had overturned onto its left-hand side. It would appear that one of the men travelled on the back of the truck and fell off as the truck overturned, eventually crushing him.

The man was barely visible from underneath the truck. After a heavy duty crane lifted the vehicle the man was declared dead and his remains retrieved. Both the driver and passenger who were travelling in the cabin of the vehicle were treated for minor injuries on the scene.

They were able to exit the overturned truck without assistance and were found sitting in front of the vehicle. Both men were transported to the nearby Life Flora Clinic for further medical care.

“The details surrounding the cause of the accident are still being investigated by local authorities,” Jackson said.
