Ride or run for Muscular Dystrophy in September
The Muscular Dystrophy Foundation invites families, cyclists and runners to their Hope in Motion event at Hoërskool Florida.
The Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Gauteng Branch is inviting the community to lace up their running shoes, hop onto their bicycles, and become part of a day filled with hope, unity, and purpose at their upcoming Hope in Motion event.
Families, runners, cyclists, and local vendors are encouraged to gather at Hoërskool Florida on September 19 for a fun-filled fundraising event aimed at supporting individuals and families living with muscular dystrophy.

According to Robert Scott, the general manager of the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Gauteng, the event will also be supported by Run/ Walk For Life, and it promises an exciting atmosphere with activities for all ages.
“We are a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions. Through awareness generation, support services, and assistance with disability equipment where funding allows, we strive to improve quality of life for those affected,” he said.
The event will start at 09:00 and continue until 17:00, and attendees will be able to enjoy flea markets, delicious food stalls, running and mountain biking activities on a dedicated 2km track where participants can run or ride as much as they like throughout the day.

Robert said the event is more than just a recreational outing; it is an opportunity for the community to stand together and make a real difference. All proceeds raised will go toward empowering individuals and families affected by muscular dystrophy through the work of the foundation.
“We invite everyone to come and be part of something meaningful. Whether you are a runner, cyclist, vendor or simply a supporter, your presence will help us spread hope and raise awareness.”
Entrance to the event is R20 per person, and community members or businesses interested in participating or getting involved are encouraged to contact Robert on 011 472 9824 or via email at mdfgauteng@mdsa.org.za.
