The Florida Albion Sports Club gave more than 67 minutes on Saturday 20 July.
The club was hosting a big sports day anyway, coach Romeo Jagjiban argues, “and the Christian soccer team Goals for God also volunteered their time”.
Romeo says that the club is not subsidised by any department or council and that they solely rely on members’ contributions.
“The club’s greatest need at this stage was a good coat of paint for the border fences.
“Each age group (ranging from six to 35) was given a dedicated 100 metre piece of the fence and was responsible from bringing brushes and raising money for paint.”
Considering the rate at which the children and volunteers were painting, by the afternoon one could expect the entire parameter to be painted in a bright green hue.
