Man hangs himself to death

ZANDSPRUIT - Domestic violence drives man to commit suicide.

A man was found hanging on a pedestrian bridge on Beyers Naudé Drive in Zandspruit on 31 March. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the man committed suicide.

Spokesperson for the Honeydew Cluster Police Warrant Officer Johannes Maja said they have opened an inquest docket to investigate what took place. “I cannot confirm if it was suicide or not, our investigations will reveal that.”

It is alleged that the man had domestic issues with his partner and neighbours have reported that they heard noises from the deceased home which sounded like they were fighting. “They were always fighting,” said one source who wished to remain anonymous.

Eyewitnesses said that the deceased’s first attempt to kill himself foiled. “He tried to hang himself with a cloth, but that didn’t work because the cloth teared apart.”

There are views which suggest that he was adamant to take his life, because the deceased tried to find alternative means to help him complete his mission. “He went to find a steel wire that he used to hang himself on the bridge and that led to his ultimate death.” Police investigation is underway.
