Robbery at Ruimsig Post Office – suspects still at large
RUIMSIG – Three armed men rob an undisclosed amount of money at the Post Office in Ruimsig.
Residents who went to pick up their mail at around 11am on 1 November were unaware that a robbery was about to take place at the Post Office located inside Ruimsig Boulevard Shopping Centre, alongside Doreen Road.
Honeydew Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs confirmed the incident, “It is alleged that the three men entered the business pretending to be customers. All three of the men were armed and they held up the staff and a security guard.”
WO Jacobs explained that the men took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene. “No shots were fired and it is not clear if the suspects were driving a vehicle.”
Communications manager at the Post Office Johan Kruger said, “We are busy investigating the incident and will revert with more information as soon as we know what exactly happened on the day.”
