D12 Hockey teams done and dusted
RUIMISG — U12 and U13 hockey teams from Maragon have been chosen to represent their school in the upcoming District 12 tournament.
Maragon Private Schools’ hockey team has been chosen as part of the District D12 hockey team, for the 2015 season.
Coach Retha van der Walt said her U12 and U13 girls hockey team has done tremendously well during the season and boasted that they did not lose a single match. The D12 team includes top hockey teams and players from both Afrikaans and English schools.
Patrick Sukop and Michael Lazeby, who are both coaches of the U12 boys team added, “we have been working side-by-side over the past three years, grooming and developing the skills of all the players. They have been very impressive with their skills and abilities on the pitch. They have made the school stand out as a hockey school.”
According to Louise Wells, master in charge of hockey at Maragon, the team is set to grow stronger with the completion of the new Astro. “They won’t just be the well-known on the West Rand but all over the province,” she concluded.
