Load shedding: So far, so good

Government also to blame.

Regardless of Eskom announcing that load shedding would have started in all earnestness this week, no outages in the Roodepoort area has been reported.

Eskom CEO Tshediso Matona warned on Tuesday though “the system is constrained. We expect some of the generating units back during the day, however should anything unexpected happened we will go into load shedding.”

Matona went on to say the government is also to blame for the current dire situation due to their policies and the price of electricity that is regulated by the National Energy Regulator of SA (Nersa).

In the meanwhile, in spite of promises made last Friday by municipal customer City Power, no new schedule has been made available yet.

The service entity’s spokesperson Sol Masolo said City Power were still talking to the technical teams of Eskom and were waiting for Eskom to give the new schedule to them.
