Shots allegedly fired during Sunday afternoon robbery

Firearm dropped when suspect fled.

Two male suspects were arrested yesterday while a third female got away after a supermarket was robbed in Mouton Street.

The robbery at City Supermarket took place at about 3.40pm at the corner of Mouton and Georginia Streets. The two males were apprehended by security companies and Horison Block Watch patrollers in Andries Bruyn Street, but the third suspect, a female with red hair, escaped. When fleeing she dropped a firearm.

According to a source shots were fired but this could not be confirmed.

The Roodepoort Police is currently investigating the incident in order to arrest the female suspect.

Other successes for Roodepoort Police this past weekend was the 45 arrests that were made on Friday during routine stop and searches.

Suspects were arrested for assault GBH, attempted murder, common assault, theft, possession of dagga, possession of drugs, house breaking and theft and possession of stolen goods. The suspects were charged and detained at Roodepoort Police Station.
