New building creates sense of ownership
LITTLE FALLS – Teachers and pupils alike are excited to finally be in a new building and be separated from the preparatory school they once shared space with.
Trinityhouse Little Falls High School finally has the chance to use their brand new school building and be separated from the preparatory school, where they have been since the school opened in 2013.
The principal, Lynne Davis described the building as a beautiful, new asset. The holding company is Advtech. The project started in mid 2015 and in January 2016 High School pupils moved to the new building with its three stories and 30 classrooms. The new building came just in time as the school grew from 36 pupils in 2013 to 205 pupils in 2016.
According to Davis, they are expecting to have a total of 300 students in 2017. “Phase two of the building process is planned to be complete in 2019,” said Davis. A second wing will be attached to the main building and provide a further 30 classrooms.
Senior geography teacher Joanne Brett has been at the school since 2014. “Having a new building with these views is such a blessing. As a geography teacher, I think the views are awesome.” She added the school plans to have some Grade 8 lessons in the Little Falls Nature Reserve next term, something she is very excited about.
Nicola Nilsson, visual arts teacher said that she loves the new building. “The pupils have a real sense of ownership of the school.” She explained that the school has two laboratories, a media centre and an iPad bank. Kristi Dewar, business and economic management sciences teacher has been at the school since it opened in 2013. “It is a very nice building. It is nice to be in our own building,” she commented.
